No match for Yellawomen this Sunday as they plot stinging The Bees
Ascot United [men] travel to Uxbridge on Saturday as their Isthmian League programme continues. The Reds are currently tenth, two places and one point below Ascot but with a game in hand.
There is currently a four-team mini breakaway at the top of the league with Farnham looking imperious, whilst Harrow, Kingstonian and Hartley Wintney all separated by just one point in positions two to four. It’s early days, but the final play-off spot, fifth, is currently occupied by Hanworth Villa who are four points above Ascot and have played one game more.
Last season, The ten-men of Ascot almost came away with a 1-0 win on Boxing Day only for Uxbridge to equalise late-on, and in the home match honours were shared again in a 2-2 draw as Liam Tack scored twice.
On Sunday, Ascot United Women were intending to field their JPL U18 side in a county cup match against Tilehurst Panthers, but the visitors have withdrawn from the competition and there will be a blank afternoon at the Racecourse, Therefore, U18’s manager Stuart Connor has hastily arranged a league game for his side on Saturday, away at Yeovil Town.
However, The Yellawomen are currently eyeing up a mouth-watering FA Cup First Round clash at Brentford on Sunday 3rd November. The Bees, despite their status-in-name, are currently plying their trade one tier lower than Ascot at Step 6, but that is not to be discounted as they are currently flying in the London and South East Regional League Division One with five wins from five and a stellar goal difference. Brentford play their games at Bedfont Sports and Social Club, which is a short hop down the A30.
The Yellawomen are next in act at Winchester on Sunday 27th October, their last game before the big FA Cup outing.
