VINE AT THE DOUBLE IN COMEBACK WIN
Ascot United 3 – 1 Littlehampton Town
Isthmian League South Central Division
Ascot United came from behind to beat Littlehampton Town. The Golds started brightly and after George Gaskin fired an early free-kick narrowly wide, he superbly headed Luis Tijan Sparks’ cross across Kie Plumley and into the top corner in the 10th minute. Plumley’s magnificent save then turned Owen Spicer’s thunderbolt away before Ascot came into it with Rudi Pache and Lucias Vine both going close. Vine’s exquisite curling effort drew Ascot level in the 30th minute (pictured, shooting-stars.co.uk) before visiting ‘keeper Billy Collings’ double save denied Vine and Jaheim Kamara.
Ascot dominated the second half and another double-block denied Andrio Brandao and Vine in quick succession before Vine made it 2-1 from the penalty spot. Brandao and Luis Le Paih went close to adding a third before Fope Deru’s fine individual goal in the 89th minute wrapped up a deserved victory.
