Fortress Racecourse set for another test on Sunday
Ascot United are looking to take something from an away day for the first time this season when they travel to Horndean on Saturday (3pm). Despite winning all five of their home games, The Yellamen have drawn blank for their three away trips and will be looking to buck that trend.
Standing in their way are a Horndean side on four points from five and winless in six matches in all competitions. Ascot have found their last two visits to Five Heads Park fruitful, having won league matches there in 23/24 and 24/25. Ground address is Five Heads Rd, Horndean, Waterlooville PO8 9NZ.
Saturday’s league fixtures are below, with Egham Town and Fareham Town in Emirates FA Cup action (against Deal Town and Sholing respectively)
| Hanworth Villa | v | Hayes & Yeading United |
| Harrow Borough | v | Kingstonian |
| Hartley Wintney | v | Littlehampton Town |
| Horndean | v | Ascot United |
| Leatherhead | v | Hendon |
| Raynes Park Vale | v | Bognor Regis Town |
| South Park (Reigate) | v | Binfield |
| Southall | v | AFC Portchester |
On Sunday, Ascot United Women welcome Portishead to the Racecourse looking to build on last weekend’s fine league cup victory on the road at Bournemouth Sports (2pm). Portishead have lost all three of their opening games with Ascot having drawn once and lost twice, so it’s an opportunity for both sides to pick up points.
But Ascot have a long, proud unbeaten home league record to protect, having not lost a home league match since January 9th 2022, when Abingdon United beat them 3-2 in the Southern Region Women’s Football League. As of Sunday, that will be a 1,344 days – and hopefully counting!
Sunday’s league programme is as follows:
Ascot United v Portishead Town
Bournemouth Sports v Keynsham Town
Bridgwater United v Maidenhead United
Marine Academy Plymouth v Swindon Town
Moneyfields v Abingdon United
Worthing v Bristol Rovers
All the action from both games will be summarised here, as normal.
