TADLEY TEST NEXT AS VASE CAMPAIGN RESUMES

#WeAreAscot.

Ascot United’s Buildbase FA Vase campaign resumes with a trip to league rivals Tadley Calleva on Saturday (3pm). Address/map is via this link: Barlows Park, Silchester Rd, Tadley RG26 3PX.

Tadley parted company with manager Gareth Thomas on Wednesday after an difficult start to the season, and last Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat at fellow strugglers Wokingham and Emmbrook was the final straw, leaving them with just one point from nine league games.

Ascot have already been to Barlows Park this season when they enjoyed a comfortable 5-1 win, but this is the cup and Tadley will be after revenge as both sides look for a place in the First Round Proper.

Tadley’s best FA vase run since their first season in the competition in 08/09 was in 15/16 when they reached the third round, losing at Newport IOW in a replay. They did, however, defeat Ascot in the first qualifying round of the 18/19 campaign – 3-1 the score that day. Ascot are, of course, two-times quarter finalists.

Looking further ahead, the Yellamen entertain Burnham next Tuesday in a league match, and following last Tuesday’s county cup win they know they will host the winners of the Newport Pagnell v Shrivenham tie which is yet to be played.

The Ladies have a blank Sunday although the Ladies Reserves entertain Slough at the Racecourse in the league cup (2pm).

Finally, congratulations to first team striker Ian Davies and his partner Anna on their new arrivals.
