Southall test looms for free-scoring Ascot

#WeAreAscot.

Ascot United face a tough task on Saturday when they travel to Ashford Town’s stadium to face Southall (3pm). Entry is cash-on-the-gate at Short Lane (Robert Parker Stadium, Stanwell, TW19 7BH).

Southall won last season’s reverse fixture 1-0 courtesy of ex-Yellamen David Pitt, and were one of the chasers when the league ended; Southall lying sixth with games in hand.

This season they have won 2 and lost 1, although the defeat – a midweek 4-1 home reverse – came against much fancied Hanworth Villa.

A point would see the Yellamen replace Knaphill at the top of the table in the day’s only league game as all other teams are involved in FA Vase qualifying round action; Southall and Ascot having received byes. Ascot will also be hoping for full fitness as Aiden Higgs, Harry Laflin (hamstring) and Louis Bouwers (knee) were all hobbling in and around the pitch on Tuesday evening.

Weekend FA Vase fixtures:

  • Banstead Athletic v Guildford City
  • British Airways v CB Hounslow United
  • Colliers Wood United v Mile Oak
  • Cove v Frimley Green
  • Crowborough Athletic v Molesey
  • Egham Town v Raunds Town
  • Greenwich Borough v Cobham
  • Rayners Lane v Hanworth Villa
  • Raynes Park Vale v Rusthall
  • Redhill v Snodland Town
  • Shaftesbury v Badshot Lea
  • Sheerwater v Sporting Club Thamesmead
  • Shrivenham v Camberley Town
  • Spelthorne Sports v Arlesey Town
  • Stansfield v Knaphill
  • Westside v Abbey Rangers (Sunday)
