Girl's Development Centre launch

Ascot United launched their Girls’ Development Centre in September of 2022 and it continues to grow in popularity, here we introduce you to all our brilliant coaches.

Carol Checkley – Head of Girl’s Football

Hello, my name is Carol and I am Head of Girls Football at Ascot United Football Club and I currently coach the U18 Emeralds team. I have been coaching football for nine years alongside completing my FA coaching badges. In 2017, I won an FA community ‘Coach of the Year’ . I have played and enjoyed watching football from age of 5, I stopped playing football at the age of 15yrs old then returned at 30 years old. I’ve played for a number of clubs in my tenure including Ascot United FC, Brentford FC Women and Burghfield FC.

I love coaching the girls at Ascot, seeing the girls having fun, smiling and watching them grow as players is a really proud moment. I’m really excited and looking forward to coaching at girls development sessions.

Alix Todd – Girls Coach and Head Coach of Ascot United Women

Hello, I have been coaching for roughly 8 years now, having achieved my Level 2 in 2014. My first role as a coach was with Bucks New University Ladies, coaching them as both an 11-a-side and futsal team. As a teenager I began playing for one of the many Ascot Diamonds teams the clubs’ seen over the years and I went on to play for the women’s team from the second I turned 16… due to progression as a player and the demands of my studies away from Berkshire I left Ascot for a number of years, but could always feel it calling me back. In 2020 I made the decision to re-join Ascot United Women as an assistant coach and in 2021 I took over as head coach, I also decided to sneak the boots back on and get back into the action as a player.

I look forward to working with the Girls Development Centre.
