The stormy weather might have abated but that didn’t stop Ascot United Ladies from being blown away in the first half by unbeaten league leaders Moneyfields on Sunday.

The Yellawomen will, however, take heart from a goalless second-half after Katie Shorter (2) and Kirsty McGee had put the Portsmouth-based side 3-0 up inside 33 minutes – and that is how it remained.

The defeat leaves Ascot United in third place in the SRWFL with just one league game remaining – and if they win that game at Eastleigh on March 6th then they will finish 3rd in the league regardless of results elsewhere. There were no other SRWFL Premier Division matches on Sunday due to weather-enforced postponements. Next weekend Darrel Evans’ side are in league cup action with a league cup tie at 2nd-placed Abingdon United.

Meanwhile, Clodagh Farrell bagged a hat-trick Ascot United Ladies Reserves (pictured) beat Guildford Saints Ladies 7-0 in the Thames Valley League Division 3 East. Freya Johnson, Katrina Webb and substitute Jessica Dixon (2) were also on target as John Swallow’s side made is 15 wins from 15 league games this season to move within one win of the title.
