HOME JAMES! RICHARDSON RETURNS AS KINGFISHERS CUP TEST LOOMS

#WeAreAscot.

Ascot United are in Berks and Bucks County Cup action on Tuesday evening as Thatcham Town visit The Racecourse (7.45pm); both teams vying for a place in the quarter-finals. Online matchday programme is here.

The Kingfishers are 13th out of 19 teams in the Isthmian League South Central Division (step 4), and come into the game having gone toe to toe with league leaders Bracknell Town on Saturday before losing 2-0 – a defeat only ‘sealed’ when The Robins scored in injury time.

The tie is the last of the 2nd round matches to be played and the winners will travel to Didcot Town in the last eight, the other 3 quarter final matches being Chesham v Reading, Long Crendon v Wycombe Wanderers and Beaconsfield v MK Dons.

The match will also see the return to the squad of livewire James Richardson after a spell with Chesham United and Chalfont St Peter. Richardson, a former England schoolboy international, made 64 appearances for Ascot across the prior four seasons, scoring 12 goals.

It’s also an important night for Ascot United Allied U18s who travel to Fleet Town (4th) in the league, a win would take Josh Nice’s side above Westfield into top spot.

Match report to follow.
