FA CUP 150 – Facts & Stats

#WeAreAscot.

On Friday 6th August, we have the pleasure of welcoming Phil Annets the creator of FACupFactFile to Ascot United for our game against Holyport FC. FACupFactFile provides comprehensive facts and stats across a variety of media outlets, including at least two pages of FA Cup facts in five of the last six FA Cup Final programmes.

Every season Phil tries to visit as many non-league FA Cup games as possible to promote both this historic competition and the fantastic clubs involved in it.

As well as hopefully enjoying an exciting game on the pitch, Phil will be on hand selling signed copies of his book FA CUP 150.

FA Cup 150 is an unofficial compendium of FA Cup facts & stats from FACupFactfile to celebrate 150 Years of the original & best knock-out competition, the FA Cup, designed to delight and surprise even the most ardent football statistician!

In FACupFactfile’s typical unique style, FA Cup 150 provides stats and facts about small town and local village clubs that have played in the FA Cup just as much as it covers the giants of the Premier League. FA Cup 150 doesn’t purport to be the definitive account of the history of the FA Cup, rather it provides an overview of how the competition has developed and evolved over its 150 years by recounting how different clubs have dominated it during significant periods of its history, all interspersed with a variety of ‘Top 150’ lists among its 256 pages. These lists cover the expected regular style of stats such as top goal-scorers and biggest wins, as well as the less conventional rankings of longest named clubs, worst debut performances, biggest gaps between FA Cup campaigns etc.

It’s true that a book of football statistics is out of date the moment it is published, and this has never been more true than in the current digital age where updated facts are posted on-line twenty-four seven. However, it is appropriate to publish FA Cup 150 to celebrate this key milestone of the 150th anniversary of the FA Cup, providing a ‘stake in the ground’ picture from which future stats and records can be built.

If you are unable to make it to the game itself and meet Phil in person, FA Cup 150 can be purchased by visiting the FACupFactfile website shop.
