Ascot United get green light for ground improvements

#WeAreAscot.

I am delighted to confirm that we have now received formal planning permission from RBWM and can therefore complete the ground improvements at The Racecourse that we have been working towards.

By the end of March we will have a new 50 seater stand behind the goal at the office end of the ground – this will mean we have covered seating at both end of the ground, so improving the visitor experience whether they are watching training, junior games or senior games.

We will also have a new entrance replacing the wooden hut that had come to the end of it’s lifespan… the new entrance will be easier for visitors to navigate and will also allow us to safely manage bigger crowds at The Racecourse.

You will also notice that the toilets at the back of the clubhouse have been re-configured to provide more female facilities, recognising the increasing numbers of Women and Girls at the club.

A proportion of the funding for these improvements has come from The FA, but we do have to contribute ourselves as well… we have the reserves to do this, but to minimise the impact on the club finances we are offering our whole community the opportunity to get involved and have the naming rights to the new stand until the end of next season.  It could be an individual (“The John Smith Stand”), a business you are involved in (“The Acme Trading Stand”) or a charity that is close to your heart (“The Thames Hospice Stand”)…

We are running a Prize Draw and entries cost from just £25 – the winner will be drawn in four weeks time, and will have the naming rights as the winning prize.  To enter please visit…

… and please share with your friends!

Finally, I’d like to publicly thank Dave Good for driving this project as a volunteer for the past nine months… with support from Jo Gavin and Ricky Simons, he has navigated the various organisations and regulations to get us to this point and I’m personally very grateful for his support.

Thanks,

Simon Negus
