Ascot United return home for the first time in 2022 as they face sixth-placed Edgware Town on Saturday (3pm). Online match programme is now online, here.
The Yellamen produced a stirring comeback to recover from 2-0 to win 4-2 in the reverse fixture last year, and manager Jamie Tompkins spoke in his programme notes of the visitors’ threat, stating that they “have an abundance of young, talented individuals in their team” and are “fantastic in 1v1 scenarios and fearless on the attack”.
Tompkins also teases the readers with news of new signings next week – including the return of a former player!
Victory would propel Ascot above Edgware into the top six ahead of next week’s hastily-arranged home County Cup tie at home against Thatcham Town, which has now been set for Tuesday night (7.45pm).
Saturday’s schedule (below) includes a local derby at Hanworth Villa, a chance for Holyport to capitalize at free-falling Burnham, a 3rd v 5th clash as Abbey play Egham, and an important six-pointer for Tadley at Virginia Water.
After George Lock made his 150th appearance for Ascot last weekend, midfielder Jonny Denton – who recently reached his double century – is set to go third on the all-time appearances roster alongside Ian Brooks (202).
Also this weekend, The Ladies are at home against Oxford City on Sunday (2pm) whereas the Ladies Reserves are on the road at Holyport; both being league matches.
The Ascot United Allied U18s are also back in action next Tuesday at 4th placed Fleet Town as their title bid continues in the ACYLS.
