Ascot United at Hanworth Villa in semi final showdown
Ascot United head to Hanworth Villa on Wednesday evening as their guest to reach the Isthmian League South Central Division play-off final begins at Rectory Meadow (7.45pm) (Park Rd, Feltham TW13 6PN).
The winners will either travel to Uxbridge or host Kingstonian in Sunday afternoon’s final – those two sides also meet on Wednesday in the other semi-final – as home advantage is given to the team finishing highest in league.
In the regular season, Sam Merson scored the only goal in Villa’s one-nil win at The Racecourse, before both sides played out an uneventful goalless draw in the reverse fixture two weeks ago.
Supporters are encouraged to purchase a ticket prior to travelling. Whilst Rectory Meadow is unlikely to reach its official capacity of 1000, there will surely be more in attendance than the 306 supporters who attended the league game on 15th April.
The two sides are in similar form – Ascot with 12 points from their last 6 outings compared with Villa’s 11 – and with the home side beaten just 4 times at home compared with Ascot losing only 4 times away, it makes for a tight affair on paper.
Connor Holland, assuming selection, is set to make his 50th appearance for the Yellamen.
Match reporting, as always, will follow later in the evening.
Let’s hope it’s not the last one of the season…
