Yellawomen’s cup tie postponed but Yellamen seek seventh win on the spin

It’s another bumper weekend of football in and around Ascot as Ascot United’s Men’s and two of its Womens’ teams are all in action and looking to extend their super sequences.

The Women’s section is in an unprecedented position where its senior, reserve and JPL Under 18’s are all top of the respective leagues! First up on Saturday, Stu Connor’s JPL U18s are in action at The Racecourse against Wycombe Wanderers (11.30 am). Several of his squad have already made a big name for themselves in the Senior side, but they won’t feature in competitive action this Sunday as Andy Cox’s Women’s team’s league cup clash against Slough Town has been postponed with the visitors unable to field a full team. The Yellawomen may also lose top spot to Oxford City on Sunday if City avoid defeat at Badshot Lea – although Cox’s troops already have two games in hand.

They also retain an interest in the Combined Counties League cup, after beating QPR 7-1 on Wednesday evening (pictured celebrating, shooting-stars.co.uk).

However, Ascot United Women’s Reserves are in action at Wycombe Wanderers U23 on Sunday (Burnham FC 2pm) aiming to keep their place at the top of SRWFL Division 1 (North).

In between all that, Ascot United Men go for a record seventh consecutive win since their promotion to Step 4 last season. Standing in their way is Harrow Borough, who are four points and four places below The Yellamen, who will also note that fellow play-off hopefuls Kingstonian and Hayes & Yeading both dropped points in midweek draws. Borough have the division’s best home form on a points-per-game basis haven taken 20 points from a possible 24, although recent results have been poor with one win and five defeats in their last six to dent what was looking like title-challenging form.

Guernsey’s trip to the mainland has already been postponed, with many of the teams in-and-around Ascot seemingly having games they would expect to win. Fixtures are below, with a report from Harrow to follow slightly later on Saturday evening.
