Ascot United go looking for their fifth consecutive victory when they travel to Spelthorne Sports on Saturday (3pm). The Yellamen are fresh from their midweek ‘cupset’ over Thatcham Town when they also recorded their first clean sheet since the end of November, so will go into the match against 12th-placed Spelthorne with confidence.
And, after top scorer Harry Laflin edged his goals-per-game ratio closer to one with a midweek brace – ‘Laffers’ now having scored 27 in 28 this season – unlikely source Dan Bailey also moved his tally to six with his third goal in four games.
Spelly had the measure of Ascot in a 2-0 win at The Racecourse back in early November, but their season has somewhat fallen apart since then having won just two of thirteen matches since that victory.
Saturday’s big game is Hanworth Villa v Southall as the visitors – 22 points behind the seemingly invincible leaders – look to cut their lead to 19 with five games in hand. Full programme below.
Away fans travelling to Spelthorne (TW15 1RY) are reminded that the ground is on the ‘opposite’ side of the A308 dual carriageway if approaching from the West (London-bound) and you will likely need to use the M3 roundabout to spin around, unless travelling via Virginia Water/Chertsey/Shepperton on the B375/A244.
On Sunday, both Ladies’ sides are in respective league cup action as the First Team entertain Southampton Women’s Reserves (2pm) whilst the Reserves travel to Slough Town Ladies (also 2pm).
