Ascot United played out a competitive intra-squad friendly on Tuesday evening after the late withdrawal of planned opposition Thame United.
All squad members were present for the pre-match photos – slightly delayed due to the late arrival of a certain Harry Laflin – but after super snapper Neil Graham had polished his Polaroid it was down to proceedings on an uncomfortably warm evening.
The “Yellow” team would triumph 3-0; Aiden Higgs slotting home a first-half opener before Ed Jabbari’s thumping effort took a slight deflection en-route to making it two-nil midway through the second half.
Defender James Haworth ghosted in to finish with composure late-on for a collector’s item before referee Luke Almeida called a halt to proceedings slightly early as pitchside temperatures remained at 28 celsius.
The “White” team’s Jonny Denton was arguably player of the match as he put in a ‘proper shift’ despite the conditions, but the Yellamen will look forward to fully testing themselves against Basingstoke Town at the weekend.
