Johnson and Cogdon at the double as winning streak continues

Ascot United Ladies Reserves made it 18 wins on the trot with a comfortable 5-0 win over Slough Town Rebels Women on Sunday afternoon.

Having already beaten The Rebels in the League Cup a few weeks ago, The Yellawomen emerged from a slow start to run out comfortable winners and move them up to 2nd in the league behind fellow unbeaten side Ruislip Rangers.

Slough could – and probably should – have punished some slack defending early-on but they soon tired and Amy Cogdon side-footed into the roof of the net just before the half-hour mark.

Freya Johnson then raced clear but saw her shot turned onto the post by the visiting ‘keeper, but she soon rattled home her side’s 2nd goal – again after racing clear – in the 36th minute.

Hannah Evans’ goal on the hour mark made it safe, before Johnson again (66’) and Cogdon’s last minute strike capped a fine afternoon.

This week, the Ascot United Allied U18s are back in action on Tuesday evening when they face Abbey Rangers in the ACYFL South (7.45pm, table here).
