YELLAS GO TOP WITH COMEBACK WIN

Ascot United Ladies warmed up for next weekend’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup clash at Milton United by coming from behind to beat Abingdon Town Ladies 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Darrel Evans’ side, who beat the visitors’ town rivals Abingdon United in their season opener three weeks earlier, were behind early-on, but ultimately had too much firepower as they joined Bournemouth Sports as the only team with two wins from two games.

Abingdon’s lead had lasted just four minutes when Dom Carrington converted Sarah Davern’s cross in the fifteenth minute, before Nicole Brown did the same from Sarah Leonard’s cross ten minutes later.

Livewire Leonard then raced clear down the left before finding the corner from a narrow angle just after the hour mark to make it 3-1, before unselfishly teeing up Brown to rifle home her second and Ascot’s fourth shortly afterwards.

Leonard then brilliantly slotted home after racing onto Georgia Bowers’ equally brilliant through ball in the 75th minute, before substitute Tiffany Skinner (pictured) added the icing near the end when she scored after her initial attempt had been well saved.

Meanwhile, Ascot United Ladies Reserves also made it two wins from two with a 4-0 home victory over Slough Town Ladies in the Thames Valley League Division One.
