In the words of Annie – “So good to be back hooooome again”.

Pre-season started with the now traditional Legends v Icons game. A very one-sided looking score but not a one-sided game.

The Icons took an early 2-0 lead with a brace from Dave T and were dominating possession and chances. Really good interplay with DP, Rob and DS linking well. John and Abbas gave the Icons real width and the Legends struggled for the first 30 minutes. Who would’ve thought 8-3 to the Icons at this point? Icons pulled it back to 2-2 by half time. Ben St and Sam causing a few problems and both scoring from balls played in behind.

First 15 mins of second half was pretty even with chances at both ends when the Icons were awarded their first of three pens. Stu calmly slotted 3-2 Legends. The best goal of the game followed with some quick short passes and Andy found Sam racing down the left, his far post cross was volleyed into the roof of the net by Ben St. As the Icons began to push for an equaliser, they lost control of the game and the Legends took over with 2 more penalties converted by Stu – in total 3 pens, 2 right foot and 1 left foot – if only he could’ve swapped one of the right foot ones for a header. Hambo and Sam chipped it with more goals and Rob got one back for the Icons.

A great game for the first hour and some really encouraging signs across the whole squad. Great and sturdy performance by Kev wearing the Icons gloves was noted.
