Many members of Ascot United will be saddened by the news that David Hilton passed away earlier this month. Our thoughts are with Barbara and his family and friends.
At the turn of the century the facilities at Ascot United FC were literally falling apart and needed to urgently be replaced. At the time David was a senior member of Windsor and Maidenhead Council and he realised the significance of the club for the local community. David, in his own inevitable manner, helped to persuade the council to make a substantial financial contribution to the club which resulted in Sport England and The Football Foundation also funding the project. David also helped in the discussions which resulted in Ascot Racecourse providing a new 25 year lease.
In September 2010 Ascot United opened its new Clubhouse and playing facilities and in 2017 David again helped the club to raise funds to install a new 3G playing pitch to enable more children play football at Ascot.
David’s support, influence and hard work over the years played a significant part in Ascot United growing to 93 teams with 1,260 registered players.
