Ascot United go in search of a fifth straight win on Saturday when they visit Raynes Park Vale (3pm). Vale will undoubtedly prove a tough conquest for the Yellas, who lost to them in the reverse fixture (2-3) and were on the end of double defeat last season when both matches also finished 2-3.
Vale are currently third on 29 points, although Ascot – two points below in seventh and having also played sixteen games – would leapfrog them with a win. Just six points separate third and thirteenth place in a congested top half of the table.
Saturday’s game is arguably the game of the day in the Isthmian South Central, with many of the fellow promotion and play off contenders in action against more lowly sides; Farnham will surely look to win at Met Police and Kingstonian will fancy their chances at Binfield.

There is no midweek match for Ascot next week, who are also waiting for the opposition for their fourth round Berks and Bucks County Cup tie to be confirmed. They will entertain the winners of the Hungerford v Slough third round tie which was postponed earlier this week. The fourth round match will most likely take place at The Racecourse on Tuesday 10th December.
Saturday’s fixtures:
On Sunday, Ascot United Women travel to Oasis Mayfield Academy for a league fixture at Sholing Sports (1430 K.O. CONFIRMED, contrary to other sources). The Yellawomen dopped to third in the table after being in county cup action last weekend and seeing their rivals pick up league points, but they remain in the box seat with three games in hand over new leaders Oxford City and two games in hand on 2nd-placed Woodley. Sholing are sixth, and whilst their goals-per-game ratio is joint lowest in the league (eight in eight), they are equally mean at the other end having conceded just nine. The Yellawomen, however, have conceded just four in their six outings.
