Women’s Ressies also on road in tough fixture
Ascot United are back on the road on Saturday with the trip to Portsmouth to face Moneyfields (3pm). The Moneys were in red-hot form until their last 3 games having gone on an eight-game winning streak to propel them towards the play-offs. However, defeats against Uxbridge and Westfield, before a creditable draw with leaders Farnham during midweek, have put the brakes on their surge and they remain six points off the final play-off berth and have played more games than any other team in the division.
Ascot’s own credentials have been tested in the past few weeks with defeat against Hanworth Villa and Horndean, although victory in the reverse fixture thanks to Connor Holland’s brilliance, will give them hope heading down the A3.
Saturday’s fixtures include leader’s Farnham’s trip to ailing Southall, 2nd-placed Kingstonian entertain 6th-placed Hayes & Yeading, whereas Uxbridge (4th) and Hartley Wintney (5th) both have games they would expect to win.
On Sunday, there is no game for Ascot United Women, although Ascot Women’s Reserves (2nd) are on the road at Penn & Tylers Green (5th); the hosts have a false league position with at least five games in hand on all above them and could still make a challenge for the title having not yet played half of their 20 league games.
