Ascot United are on the road on Saturday for a league trip to Metropolitan police (3pm). The home side have won just one game in their lasts six and sit just above the relegation zone with 12 points form 13 games, although with Guernsey, Moneyfields, Badshot Lea and Ashford all winless in their last half-dozen outings it is very much a case of as-you-were down the bottom end.
Ascot come into the game with three wins from their last six and enjoyed a big win at Imber Court last season when Brendan Matthew took barely sixteen seconds to open the scoring.
All of the strugglers have fairly tough home ties and pick of the day’s matches is Harrow Borough (4th, and unbeaten at home in the league) entertaining leaders Farnham Town.
Set your SatNavs for Ember Ln, Molesey, Esher KT8 0BU.
On Sunday, Woodley United Ladies must be wondering where the cup draw gods have gone as they returns to play Ascot United women for the third time this season, this time in the league cup. Having been on the end of Ascot’s ruthless 11-0 win in the opening league fixture of the season, The Yellawomen beat them again – 8-2 – in the FA Cup before now being pitched against them once again. Woodley are, nonetheless, enjoying a good league campaign and are one of four teams separated by one point at the top of the SRWFL.
And in case you missed it, Brentford Women’s striker Ashley Cheatley’s goal against Ascot in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup made the main page of the BBC Sport website last weekend, here.
