Ascot United are back in league action this Saturday with the short trip to Burnham FC’s stadium to face Southall (3pm). The Yellamen pushed step-three Chatham Town all the way on Tuesday in their 1-0 Velocity League cup defeat, but the eighth-placed Yellamen will be looking to continue their push in the top half of the table against a Southall side that lie in fourteenth after an indifferent campaign so far.
However, two of The All’s three league wins this season have come in their last three matches, and they come into the game with an almost identical record to Ascot.
Should he feature, Saturday’s game will be defender Josh Edwards’s 50th for The Yellamen.
Ex-Yellamen Brendan Matthew hasn’t been at his prolific best for the home side, although he nonetheless leads their goalscoring chart with five goals.
Saturday’s fixtures include an intriguing match-up between in-form Uxbridge and league leaders Farnham Town.

Then, on Sunday, all eyes turn to Ascot United Women’s huge Adobe Women’s FA Cup tie at Brentford (3pm). The hosts, who play at Bedfont Sports and Social, are in imperious form in the Step-six London and South East Regional League Division one, and come into the game off the back of a thumping 15-0 win over Richmond Park last weekend having been ten goals up just after the half-hour mark. Strikers Ashley Cheatley and Chloe Logie netted nine between them, taking their personal tallies to 24 and 19 goals respectively this season.
But Interim Manager Andy Cox’s side are in fine form themselves – topping the Step-five Southern Region Women’s Football League after an unbeaten start – and are bidding for a place in the second round proper for the first time in their history. This Sunday’s first round proper comprises 58 ties and includes teams from the Step-three National League to Step seven regional leagues. The 58 winners will advance to the second round proper, and the 29 winners of those ties progress to the third round when clubs from the Step-two Championship enter.

The winners of the tie will receive a whopping £6,000 in prize money with the losers bagging £1,500.
