Phoenix Squad secure TVCWFL Division One title

We would like to congratulate our Phoenix squad for securing the TVCWFL Division One title for the 2022/23 season. The race went down to the wire with Tilehurst Panthers (43 points) and New Bradwell St Peter (42 points) also vying for the top spot finish but the Yellas held strong in order to to claim victory.

Despite a final day defeat to title rivals Tilehurst Panthers, the Yellas had done enough to confirm promotion with 44 points collected with 14 games won, 2 drawn, against Slough Town in November and Wargrave in March, and just two losses, one against New Bradwell St Peter who looked on course to clinch the title earlier in the season and the other against Tilehurst.

The Yellas began the season with a sensational opening day win over Banbury United Firsts with eight goals to their name and a clean sheet for goalkeeper, Cara O’Brien. Lisa Phillips also got herself in the mix and the pair between the sticks registered ten clean sheets collectively.

Sixteen of the Phoenixes got their names on the scoresheet, but Mya Bowler came out on top with ten goals to her name and the ninth top goalscorer in the division.

Congratulations again to manager, John Swallow and his Phoenix squad!

Up the Yellas!
