JT SPEAKS AFTER LEAGUE CUP WIN – WHAT DID HE SAY?

#WeAreAscot.

SPEAKING to ascotunited.net after Tuesday night’s Velocity League Cup win over Sutton Common Rovers, manager Jamie Tompkins answered a few questions.

JT, congratulations on reaching a new milestone in winning six on the trot. How are you feeling after that achievement?

~JT – after tonight’s 2-1 win against Sutton Common Rovers in the Velocity League Cup, I’m feeling very positive about our landmark sixth win. We’re focused on continuous improvement as individuals and team with each game.

And you used this as an opportunity to rotate the squad, in came the likes of Jamal and Usman plus Harry was impressive and provided the assist for the opening goal. How do you feel the squad fared?

~JT – The rotated squad fared brilliantly and it was fantastic to see all players performing well and showcasing our strong squad depth.

Obviously George [Butler] picked up a freak eye-injury in the warm-up and Josh took a knock early on before being replaced early in the second half. How are they doing?

~JT – Josh and George are both fine after their knocks and warm-up injuries, with no concerns moving forward.

And finally it was great to see Dan lead from the back on his 150th appearance. Rovers showed they are a direct side with plenty of pace up front and the start was a carbon-copy of the league game where they could have scored early-on. How impressed were you at DB’s performance in keeping them at bay?

~JT – I was particularly impressed with Dan’s performance against a lively attack and on his 150th game for the club. As our captain, he was a defensive rock and handled a challenging forward line comfortably. Overall, I’m delighted with Dan’s and the team’s performance and we can look forward to Saturday’s FA Trophy game against Margate.

Last night’s ‘lite’ printed matchday programme template, which prints and folds twice, is here.

The Yellamen are back in FA Trophy action this Saturday on a busy weekend of football at The Racecourse; David Burton’s U18’s in FA Youth Cup action on Friday before Sunday’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup tie between Ascot United Women and Denham United Ladies.
