Great performance by the SVs against a competitive and dogged Chelsea team that played up to the final whistle.
Ascot took 121/2 to the game with Tommo joining at halftime from the Rams game. The half being the return of Stu Flurry after his operation on his shoulder after the fall holding the cup way back in May last year.
Ascot started well and were solid all over the pitch. Ferds marshalling the back four and with Perds and Norris , with Kay and Newall wide in midfield coping well with the Chelsea 5. Upfront it was DT and Phil making great runs and pulling the Chelsea defence all over. It was only a matter of time before ascot scored with Newall floating a cross to the far post for a DT volley from 2yds. Ascot pressed for more but it took some time before Phil headed in from close range to make it 2-0 at halftime.
Ascot struggled at times to keep the tempo high but with Read on in midfield and Ascot going for three at the back, Ascot pressed forward with the introduction of Tommo upfront bringing additional energy. DT scored his 2nd tapping in from close range and this followed with his 3rd from another 3yd blockbuster. Tommo attempted a chip from 25yds before DT scored his 4th. Total yardage for 4 goals 17. Flurry came on for the last 20 and managed a cryuff turn which he was happy with. All in all a good day against a good opposition and hospitality which included Chicken or vegetable Jalfrezi with rice, pitta bread and a lightly dressed salad. Well done all.
