YELLAWOMEN PEGGED BACK AT THE DEATH
Bridgwater scored in stoppage time to deny Ascot victory
Ascot United Women came within seconds of taking another win on Sunday, before being pegged back to a one-all draw at Bridgwater United.
After a largely uneventful first half, The Yellawomen went ahead when Mae Goulden’s well-hit shot looped over home ‘keeper Charlotte Johnson following an earlier free-kick.
Ascot were reduced to ten players in the third minute of stoppage time when Hattie Kettle received a second yellow card, before goalkeeper Johnson scored a wind-assisted 60-yard goal in the sixth added minute to salvage a draw for the hosts.
Bridgwater remain fourth and Ascot sit comfortably in seventh. It was a good point for Andy Cox’s side and probably one they’d have taken before kick-off, but it could have been better.
But with four wins, one draw and a defeat from their last six outings, things are pretty well set for a positive run-in.
