RAIDERS BATTLE BACK TO SHARE SPOILS AGAINST BRACKNELL ATHLETIC
Raiders hosted their first home game of the new season at Victory Field with Bracknell Athletic the visitors.
Raiders started tentatively and Bracknell soon showed they meant business with a forceful aggressive game. Raiders struggled to put their game together and found it difficult to penetrate the away defence. At the other end Bracknell were feeding diagonal balls behind our full backs but in the most part were unable to find the killer touch. Then after 15 mins they scored from an in-swinging corner that Musty could only palm into the net under pressure from a Bracknell player. Raiders then began to put pressure on the Bracknell goal with a couple of shots being blocked, but all too often passes went astray and crosses swallowed up by the big centre backs. Bracknell had a couple of breakaways but Raiders managed to snuff out the danger in the end. HT 0-1
In the second half the game became more end to end; Raiders became more of a threat in the Bracknell penalty area while at the other end Bracknell hit the post and missed with a free header. As the half wore on it began to look like Bracknell were going home with all 3 points but then with 10 mins to play Cory popped up with a superb rising shot from the right-hand side of the area to equalise. Both sides kept trying for the winner but defences held firm so final score 1-1 and honours even.
Not Raiders finest performance after the euphoria of last week, but you couldn’t fault the effort. A special mention for Jack and Jamie were superb at the back ably supported by Musty who’s handling for the most part was excellent.
