Match Report Ascot United Warriors
We travelled to Benfleet in Essex on Sunday 18th May for a charity Special Olympics Tournament in memory of a young player who sadly passed away a few years ago.
We fielded 2 teams of 5 players. The competition was fierce and due to reduced numbers of players the teams were playing almost back to back games throughout a hot afternoon. The aim of the tournament was to play in a sportsmanlike manner. Although we sustained injuries to 3 key players we battled on until the end of the tournament. Jack Lumsden we named man of the Tournament due to his punishing regime of needing to play as Goalie in both teams due to the injury last week of our reserve Goalie. Jack played his heart out and saved some amazing shots. All referees agreed that Ascot United Warriors were worthy champions of the Fair Play Trophy, as they displayed guts, integrity and a never say die attitude.
To say we are extremely proud of the team is an understatement. They all played like true Warriors! We now have our first piece of silverware which we hope the club can add to their collection for the next year with a photo of the combined winning team!
Thanks again to Ascot United and our sponsors Ascot Racecourse Supports!
