Persistent overnights showers and high winds did not dampen the spirits of the Ascot Diamonds as they faced Wargrave
Wargrave’s confidence after the early barrage from Ascot were starting to grow in confidence and on the 25th minute a wonderful true ball through the middle presented a chance for the Wargraave midfielder to make the run into the box and release a great shot to the far post. 1 NIL to Wargrave against the early run of play but perhaps not entirely unexpected as they were really pressing during
this spell.
As the ball was kicked off from touch Wargrave again pressed and won the ball in the midfield and Wargrave’s speedy and dangerous midfielder who had been shackled to this point picked up a loose ball spun and drifted right before driving a bullet shot from outside the box in the 26th minute to beat the outstretched gloves of Hanna. 2 NIL to Wargrave and the second goal was even better than
the first to be fair. 2 goals in 2 minutes.
Half Time but still lots to play for.
Finally in the 69th minute with yellow shirts swarming the Wargrave defence a big kick downfield by Hanna was picked up by Gabby who poked it onto space for Amira never giving up to place in the far corner with a one time touch. Ascot at last had a goal back 2-1
This was to prove to be the last rites as once the ball left touch the Ref blew full time and it was an exciting game and one that Ascot dominated and still didn’t win but all the girls played exceptionally well
