It was a 12.05 pm kickoff and Shinfield determined to make a better showing came flying out of the blocks, seizing an early opportunity to get into the Ascot half and firing off an early rocket which was comfortably saved by the very alert Hanna Richards in goal
In the 8th minute Macy Sealy collected a high ball with one excellent first touch and slipped her marker before driving forward and placing a well directed shot to the far corner which was only just saved by a sprawling dive by the Shinfield keeper.
In the 14th minute Hanna Richards who had been sending out some dangerous long balls all day, sent another out and Gabby Goodall strong yet again turned and fired another shot on target which the bemused keeper reacted well to save but dropped the ball only for Hollie Lake alert, dangerous and most importantly lurking to slam the ball into the back of the net. Deadlock finally broken 1 NIL
It was Hollie’s 7th goal of the season, and a timely reminder that Ascot has had 13 different goal scorers this season.
Half time with Ascot leading 1 NIL and Shinfield perhaps not looking forward to a second half against a hungry looking Ascot
Ascot continued to attack with Kyla Smith-Layne delivering two more testing corners in the next minute, before in the 32 minute, the Shinfield defender hesitated and Gabby Goodall didn’t , as she won the ball and held off a strong challenge to pass the ball to Amira Khan on a silver platter with work to do but the belligerent Ascot striker refused to be stopped by the Shinfield defenders (yes plural) before punching the ball low and past the Shinfield keeper to make it 2 NIL
It was a typical Amira goal, one which we have seen a few times this season and her Christiano Ronaldo super girl celebration was very well matched to that goal. This was Amira’s 12th goal of the season and Gabby’s 4th assist. This pair have become very dangerous for Ascot this season.
In the 37th minute Alexa Crittenden tormenting Shinfield all day dribbled one player and cut inside skinning a second before pushing the ball past a bemused third player, and sliding a fine pass through where Kitty Ward who also was showing her range of pure football skill, drifted wide before making a half turn and absolutely lacing the ball across the area where Amira Khan volleyed the ball into the back of the net to make it 3 NIL. It was Ascot really playing some seriously mesmerizing football, the sort that the spectators would be asked to leave and pay to come back through the turnstiles to see some more.
What a strike, Amira’s 13th goal of the season and Kitty’s 2nd assist
In the 40th minute Macy Sealy working hard for the entire game held up the ball long enough for Alexa Crittenden to race down the line and Macy Sealy sent a visionary pass across the pitch for Alexa to collect and head to the goal line and just when it looked like she might have run out of runway Alexa from an acute angle of about 10 degrees hammered the ball past the keeper who never stood a chance.
What a goal and what a ridiculous angle to score from and what a Hollywood pass that was from Macy to pick out Alexa. Another sublime piece of football. Spectators out and time to pay again, you surely can’t get that much football for one ticket.
4 NIL this was Alexa’s 7th goal of the season and Macy’s 4th assist. None more deserved than this one for Alexa who was magnificent again.
