V Goring Robins
With a chill in the air Ascot made the 45 minute journey down the motorway to face Goring Robins in Goring. With some importance on this game to ensure we keep pace with the early pace setters and also to ensure we are not going to be re-seeded to a lower division, anything but a win would have been touch and go.
The game kicked off at 9.48 am under bright but chilly skies, as Ascot with instructions to attack early decided to run at Goring and in the 2nd minute of play Hollie on the left wing collected an excellent ball from Aariyah and silky as ever drifted past her marker with ease and continued to drive down the wing with urgency before cutting in towards the box to drive home aa low ball with pin point precision to open the Ascot tally.
1 NIL from an outstanding strike delivered by Hollie
In the 17th minute Emma working like a machine as centre back hit a ball forward which was collected by Macy with the left foot and weighted perfectly diagonally into the box with the right foot for none other than the energetic Hollie who was having an outstanding game to race on to and this time calmly caress it into the far corner to make it 2 NIL.
On the 32nd minute a fine turn by Goring saw them slip the hardworking Ascot defence before drilling a ball towards the Ascot goal which just eluded keeper Pippa to creep over the line and it was 2-1 with Goring looking to get back on even terms as the Ref blew half time a few minutes later
A frenetic finish but Ascot got the job done to claim a 2-1 victory Opposition player of the Match was naturally Pippa for her heroics in goal and Ascot also voted Goring Keepers for the same recognition
Coaches player of the day was Hollie for her fine display collecting a brace of goals but she was also outstanding when asked to play left back in the second half.
Special mention to Emma Hughes who was sensational as she ran for all 70 minutes of the game and her tackles were at times life savers whenever Goring threatened to break away.
Ascot move to 9 points from 4 games as we head into the half term break
