A very foggy morning greeted the teams on the South Ascot recreational ground as heavy fog meant wet grass which also was much longer than ideal.

Nevertheless with a job to do, Ascot Diamonds faced Caversham Trent Whites a team that has been difficult to break down this season and perhaps with aspirations of their own against an Ascot team coming off a double digit win in the cup last weekend.

In the 11^th minute, Emma who has rapidly put down a marker as one of the most reliable holding mid fielders in the squad, lined up a Caversham midfielder with visions of glory and stopped her dead in her tracks with a well timed tackle before calmly sending the ball back the other way as easy as shelling peas wide towards the left wing.  Alexa with knife and fork at the ready collected the pass and cut inside leaving the flying midfielder to carry on going in the next direction and placing a well weighted pass to Amira “Harlaand” who also with a “glut” of goals from the last game collected and placed the ball past the advancing Caversham keeper.

I NIL to Ascot thanks to a brilliant assist from Alexa and a calm finish from Harlaand (sorry Amira).  It was Amira’s 8^th goal in 7 matches and Alexa’s 3^rd assist.

Tabitha passed a ball from deep in the Ascot half to Aariyah who sliced through the midfield and sent a pass out to Hollie who was roughly bought down just outside the box by a two handed wrestle which the ref blow a foul for much to the angst of the now very agitated Caversham manager.

As every one lined up just in and around the box in the 45^th minute, Hollie with last minute instructions from Coach Leigh to keep the ball away from the keeper decided to do exactly that and floated a ball into the box with enough bend it like Beckham to drift past the outstretched arms of the Caversham keeper, which as you imagine caused great delight to the Caversham manager.

2 NIL to the Diamonds with a sensational free kick from Hollie which was her 5^th goal of the season

In the 62^nd minute with the bombers circling, Amira drifted wide with a ball and got a delivery into the box which Gabby collected and which the keeper wrong footed but with two defenders trying to close Gabby made it 3 Nil from just outside the box.

It was Gabby’s 2^nd goal of the season and Amira’s second assist in what surely must have been the icing on the cake.

Opposition player of the match was Hollie for her fine display including that breathtaking free kick

Coaches player of the match was very tough this week with several contenders but just edging it was Eva for her non stop commitment to the centre
