Report

Tia Johnson and Ruby Vines  stepped up from the junior ranks as Ascot United Ladies and Reserves’ sides returned to action on Sunday.

Johnson – part of the Ascot United Ladies Emeralds squad – was part of the Senior side on Sunday that found themselves 3-0 down at home against Abingdon United before both Johnson and player-coach Alix Todd cut the deficit in an eventual 3-2 defeat.

The defeat was further overshadowed by a knee injury sustained by Kelly Rideout; the club’s best wishes go out out to her.

Meanwhile, Vines marked her debut in stepping up from the U16 Diamonds with a clean-sheet in the seemingly invincible Reserves’ Thames Valley League campaign as they beat Hawley Ladies 8-0; Freya Johnson (4), Clodagh Farrell (3) and Darcey Young all on target.
