RAIDERS SCRAPE PAST 10 MAN READING

The match started with Reading playing a lone striker and pressing the ball in midfield. Raiders started on the front foot but found it difficult to penetrate and trouble the Reading keeper with both Euan and Freddie having efforts that missed the target. At the other end Musty had to be alert to clear a ball played over the top of our back four. With Raiders still trying to play their football a great passing and setup play movement resulted in Pablo shooting wide. The final action of the half was a great chance created by Reading, their striker managed to get the better of Hari on the left hand side of our area and squared the ball to his No 10 on the 6 yard line who managed to fire his shot straight at Musty who comfortably gathered. HT 0-0

The second half was more of the same with Raiders pressing and Reading relying on the odd breakaway. After good movement from Harry, Euan had a shot on the turn while at the other end Hari defended well against the striker. Pablo earned himself a yellow card for a sliding tackle with his feet up and then had a free kick well saved. Shortly afterwards Reading had another good chance when their striker wriggled free from Hari on the byeline and crossed the ball for a fellow Reading player to hit it first time from 6 yards but he could only find the side netting. Cory then shoots wide and from an indirect free kick Pablo shoots over. With the game looking like it was going to end 0-0 up pops Seb with a shot-cum- cross that bounced over the keeper and into the net. This prompted Reading to abandon their game plan and push men forward, this created more space for Raiders who took advantage with Finlay shooting over from the corner of the area and Euan hitting the bar.

A hard fought win against a side we had beaten 6-0 and 5-1 in previous encounters so an immense amount of credit must go to them for putting up such a fight with 10 men, two of which were limping towards the end!
