Ascot United Women celebrate scoring against Oxford City in the FA Cup

If you are ever going to watch an Ascot United Ladies game, this Sunday is the day to do it…

Ascot United Ladies face the biggest test in their sixteen-year history on Sunday when National League side Chichester and Selsey Ladies roll into The Racecourse for their Vitality Women’s FA Cup First Round tie (2pm).

To commemorate the tie, a special online matchday programme, packed with facts, stats and photos is now online here. Manager Darrel Evans gives his thoughts on the season so far and the big match itself, whilst Club chairman Simon Negus writes more widely on the Ladies’ football infrastructure.

There isn’t really a lot more that can be said that isn’t repeated in the programme; 5th-tier Ascot come into the game having not played since their previous FA Cup win three weeks ago, whereas 3rd-tier Chichester earned a confidence boosting 3-1 win over Plymouth Argyle in the National League Cup last Sunday having stuttered in their own league campaign.

It promises to be a memorable affair for Evans and his side against a quality outfit, and it will be great to see as many supporters as possible down the Racecourse on Sunday to be the “12th player” which Ascot’s legendary manager calls for in his programme notes.

2pm is the kick off time. Bar open, food served, free entry. What more is there to like about Sunday afternoon…? See you there…
