We are very pleased to announce that Martin Kay has been appointed player manager of the newly formed Ascot United Vets 2nd XI. His first game in charge is on Friday evening against FOLT FC Veterans at the racecourse (sadly behind closed doors following FA guidelines).
Martin has been involved with Ascot United for over a decade. He spent ten year coaching youth team football involved in 250 games and over 300 coaching sessions. In this time, Martin has also made 150 appearances for the Vets.
We all thank him for taking the role and hope he really enjoys it. His first squad has been announced for Friday evening’s game and his first suggestion has been accepted. We will be asking the club to add jugs of beer as an additional option to be purchased from the bar after the matches.
Martin is a fan of the carrot and stick approach to management.
“You’ve had a shocker mate. Go and get the lads a few jugs”
“You were my man of the match, well played. Go and get the lads a few jugs”

The Vets section continues to grow and to provide competitive 11 a side football at great facilities and both the 1st XI and the 2nd XI will represent Ascot United in the West London Vets League next season
