ASCOT TRAVEL TO IN-FORM EGHAM / LADIES POSTPONED / U18s WIN

#WeAreAscot.

Ascot United make the short trip to The Runnymede Stadium on Saturday as they return to league against Egham Town (3pm) (The Runnymede Stadium, Wards Pl, Egham TW20 8XD).

After two defeats Ascot look to return to winning ways against an Egham side who have done well this season, lying sixth in the table with just two league defeats; three points above The Yellamen.

And, it’ll be a tough test for Jamie Tompkins’ side as Egham haven’t lost for 2 months – a run of 11 games stretching back to late August – and  including three FA Vase wins plus taking league points off high-fliers St Panteleimon and Southall. Last season the floodlights went with Ascot leading one-nil leading to abandonment of the match, although it was a later arson attack at the stadium that devastated the home side. Fortunately for them, they were able to raise the funds for a new stand, which was officially opened last week.

Earlier this week, the Ascot United Allied U18s won 4-0 against Frimley Green (Jones 2, Mann, Pandhor) in the league, and note this Sunday’s Ascot United Ladies match against Winchester City Flyers was postponed on Friday due to COVID cases in the visitors’ squad.  The Reserves are also not in action this weekend having beaten Holyport Ladies 17-1 last Sunday to extend their long unbeaten sequence; Freya Johnson netting seven goals as Ascot kept up their 100% record in TVL3E.
