A brilliant display of football by the Junior Yellas in front of a decent Friday night crowd on January 23rd , 2026 saw a spirited Ascot earn a hard fought 2-1 victory over Sandhurst in the Cup.
After going behind in the first half they fought back to level scores just before the half thanks to a Kitty Ward strike. In the second half it was another flowing bit of football in the 46th minute from the Diamonds as they swept the ball forward starting with a good bit of defending from Emily Osborne to clear the ball under pressure and for Eva Rose Purba to control the pass before sending it to Hollie Lake dancing down the left wing to drive the ball into the box which went to Kyla Smith-Layne then to a Sandhurst defender who lost it to Tabitha Martin, before Macy Sealy beat the defender to the pass turned and took a shot which was blocked and landed just inside the box for Phoebe Thomas to place it past the bemused keeper for a huge goal at that stage as the ground erupted in delight at the goal that Ascot were searching for.
2-1 to Ascot and that was Phoebe’s 2nd goal of the season. An immense strike
