Ascot United return to The Racecourse for the first competitive home match in six months when they entertain Colliers Wood United on Saturday (3pm).
The match requires advance purchase of tickets via Eventbrite here to comply with Ascot United’s COVID-19 policy, which includes going cashless on-site – please remember this when you purchase your half time tea!
The afternoon also sees the introduction of the home side’s new online programme, which is already available here – completely FREE!
Back to the game, and Ascot will look to bounce back from their midweek defeat whereas The Wood are searching for their first win of the season having exited the FA Cup against Hollands and Blair before drawing with Abbey Rangers and losing to Hanworth Villa in the league.
The visitors’ squad contains club record goalscorer Mario Embalo, who was a constant livewire when we defeated them (4-2 AET) in our 2014-15 FA Vase run to the quarter finals. Last season, they faltered after a strong start to their league campaign, and ultimately dropped to eleventh when the campaign was suspended. Last season’s matches both ended in victories for Ascot; 3-2 (away) in a topsy-turvy rain-lashed encounter before a more comfortable 3-0 win in the return.
Saturday’s league programme is curtailed by many clubs’ interests in the FA Cup, as shown below, providing an opportunity for four of eight teams to steal a march.
