Ascot United Ladies recorded a sensational third win in four matches on Sunday with a 1-0 success over Oxford City Ladies in the Southern Region Women’s Football League. And, it was a historic day for the Yellawomen, as half time substitute Georgia Bowers scored in the 47th minute to earn a first-even win over City – pushing Darrel Evans side up to the dizzy heights of second in the league.
Whilst Ascot have played more games than those around them (5 game 9 points), Abingdon United (4 wins from 4), Moneyfields and AFC Bournemouth (all unbeaten) will all pose a threat as the season unwinds, but for now the Yellawomen will enjoy their position.
Elsewhere, Ascot United Ladies Reserves were edged out 3-1 at Abbey Rangers Ladies Reserves, keeping them in 6th place in the Thames Valley League Division 3 (East).
