The Marcus Mealing show as the striker secured a second half brace and set up a third for a captain’s own goal in the third v fourth Combined Counties battle.

Ollie Harris set the pace early on as he danced his way through the hosts defense and took a a strike at goal for Jacob Ballheimer to collect with ease. But Harefield were quick on the counter and a ball crossed into the box found itself beyond Jamie Ashdown and in the back of the net.

No sooner had the game been reset and Harefield found the back of the net once more with two goals scored inside eight minutes.

A quarter of an hour gone and Ascot looked more settled into the game and in better control of the ball with the link up play through the thirds looking more convincing by the Yellamen.

A dummy from Marcus Mealing into the path of Ollie Harris was offloaded to Harry Grant to find Brendan Matthew on the press but nothing could be made of the chance.

On the half hour mark, the through the phases play saw Ascot nick one back as Harry Grant’s pinpoint pass found Matthew who fizzed one into the box and into the path of Mealing.

Just before half time and the Yellas were searching for the equaliser, a ball sent in from the corner by Sean McCormack was cleared short by Harefield, but the away ball was straight into the path of Jay Welch who flatlined a ball at the goal and if not for a deflection would’ve made it two.

Ascot found themselves a gear up over Harefield who looked to be tiring early in the second half reflected in the shot on the 56th minute that was skyed miles over the crossbar.

The Yellas were quick on the counter and playing through the phases once again. A Harry Tucker pass played into the feet of Jordan Ajanlekoko and switched to Harris on the left wing was played sweetly into Mealing to net for a brace.

Sixty five played and Harefield found themselves with a freekick in a dangerous area and the ball was drilled straight at Ashdown but flew wide of the post. No sooner had their attempt been played than Ascot were back on the counter and a ball into the box from the left by Mealing was rattled home by Harefield captain, Sean Mangan.

Game management for the final fifteen for the Yellas before one final break of the play by Harefield saw them with yet another freekick close to the box but the attempt was hit straight at the wall and and the full time whistle was blown.
