WEEKEND ROUNDUP AS ASCOT MAKE READING TRIP

#WeAreAscot.

With the country spinning towards the inevitable The Yellamen will be spinning towards their final pre-Christmas fixture on Saturday as they make the trip to Rivermoor to face Reading City (3pm).

The Citizens are 13th with 18 points from 17 and come into the game winless in four league games – including two home defeats against fellow strugglers CB Hounslow and Wokingham & Emmbrook.

For Ascot, defender Dan Bailey (pictured) could make his 50th appearance for the club as they look to take advantage of a glut of games in hand. There are six other league games scheduled for Saturday, although this could of course reduce as Ascot discovered at the 11th hour last weekend!

And, we are monitoring the situation ahead of next week’s county cup tie as Maidenhead United have withdrawn from their FA Trophy fixture this weekend given ongoing COVID issues in their squad.

Last weekend, The Ascot United Ladies won 2-0 at Woodley with goals from Sarah Leonard and Nicole Brown – a morale-boosting win ahead of their Christmas break – no fixture for them this weekend, but The Ascot Ladies Reserves are in action against Guildford Saints (Royal Holloway, 2pm) looking to extended their winning sequence. The Reserves did not play last weekend.

And Josh Nice’s Allied U18 side finished their 2021 programme strongly with another victory last Tuesday with a 4-0 win over Fleet Spurs, a win that moves them 2nd behind Westfield with a game in hand. Westfield are scheduled to visit The Racecourse in February.
