Ascot United Women celebrate scoring against Oxford City in the FA Cup

Ascot United are back in action on Saturday with a trip to Wembley FC (3pm) (Vale Farm, Watford Road, HA9 3HG). The Yellamen have played just once in the past month – a festive win over Wokingham and Emmbrook – since defeat at Reading City on 18th December.

Wembley are two points above Ascot having played four more games, and they have also played just once since the 18th December – a 3-2 home new year win over Spelthorne Sports.

Quite who is available and unavailable in current climates is anyone’s guess until Saturday morning, but George Lock is currently on 149 appearances meaning his next outing will be a milestone having made his debut in 2017/18.

After Saturday, the Yellamen next play at home the following weekend, although with recent postponements and a county cup tie to arrange, watch this space as Tuesday night match logistics will undoubtedly unfold.

Meanwhile, Ascot United Ladies have been boosted by the news that the SRWFL have awarded them six points for their recently unfulfilled games against Wycombe Wanderers and Winchester City Flyers; both opponents having cited COVID for late-postponements. The award boosts Ascot to 4th ahead of this weekend’s ‘return fixture’ at Winchester. Elsewhere runaway leaders Ascot Ladies’ Reserves entertain Larkspur Rovers (7th) in the Thames Valley League 3E looking to make it 11 wins from 11 this season – a win would also extend their overall run to 25 consecutive victories since late 2020.

Ascot United Allied U18s are not back in action until Tuesday 25th January (Fleet Town, away).
