Warriors v Farmham Saints

Manager Donna Molyneux rounds off the final Warriors games of the 2022/23 season as they draw a close on their first season as Yellas.

The warriors played their final games of the season today Saturday 24th June against Farnham Saints, another special needs team. We played 4 friendly games of 5 a side football.

We won the first game by 4-1 Captain Brett scored all 4 goals! The second game was 5-4 to Farnham with excellent goals scored by William and James who scored 2 with a further goal by Brett. Lloyd was able to assist with the goals by keeping a clear head and passing well to our strikers. The third game, we narrowly lost by 2-1 with some excellent shots by CJ and Jack H. Great defending by Kyle and Dan with goalkeeper Jack fielding many shots on goal with fast reactions and safe hands.

We played in blistering heat in Farnham at Weydon School. Our player Nick also plays for Farnham and he wore half an Ascot strip and half Farnham!

Sadly the day was Brett’s final game as captain of the Warriors. He and his family are relocating out of the South East. The boys gave Brett a big cheer and several pats on the back at the end of the tournament!

All in all a very successful first year in existence for the Ascot United Warriors team. A big thanks to Jacob Perry our coach for training the team so well that they are now match fit and enjoying success on the pitch.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to extend our thank you to Donna for her time at Ascot United, she has been the driving force behind the Warriors team and we are truly honoured that she approached the club to set up the squad as we continue to push to provide football for all in the community. Best of luck as she, Brett and their family relocate and thank you once again.

Up the Yellas!
