Ascot head to Villa / Youth and Ladies FA Cup draw

#WeAreAscot.

Ascot United travel to Hanworth Villa this Saturday as two of the favourites go head to head in the Combined Counties League (3pm). Much-fancied Villa include Sam Merson – son of ex-Arsenal favourite Paul –  in their side, and Villa are undefeated having won two and drawn one of their three league games.

Last season Ascot escaped with a 1-1 draw having been outplayed and had Louis Bouwers dismissed after the hosts hit a post, before getting out of jail with Harry Laflin’s late penalty. However, the return match in January was one for Hanworth Villa to remember, as they earned a 3-1 victory, just before Ascot went on what looked like a title-winning run.

In other news, Ascot United Allied U18’s advanced in the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday evening after a fine 1-0 away win at Oxford City. That result has earnt Josh Nice’s side another away tie in Oxfordshire when they will visit Didcot Town on Monday 5th October; Didcot having overcome Thame United 6-0 in their tie on Monday evening.

And, it’s not just the youth team who will be in FA Cup action that week! Ascot United Ladies now know they will entertain Denham United Ladies in the Women’s FA Cup on Sunday 4th October (2pm). Stick that one in your diaries as the Ladies look to advance again having ousted Swindon Supermarine in front of 123 spectators last weekend.

You’re all up to date, except for the fact that if you get time check out the humorous video diary posted by 2 Essex groundhoppers at our recent Colliers Wood match. And yes, he has done that on a cold midweek at Banstead (watch the video and you’ll get it!!!). Video is here
