Report

Get in (the back of the van)

A comfortable win to take us through to the next round of the WLVL Cup. Ascot dominated possession for most of the game and could have scored a lot more goals.

Nice to welcome former Under 8 Ascot United Seaguls player, Dave Woozley back into a yellow Ascot United shirt.

The approach to the warm up was casual and the players did not look focussed and this showed through in the first 15 minutes with a poor and sloppy start by Ascot. Possession given away too easily and for once lacking in the usual quality of passing. A penalty on 22 minutes and Tim scored comfortably. The best move of the match brought the second goal. Dave W found Rob who slipped a lovely ball into the path of a sprinting Dave S, his drilled cross was superbly controlled by Sam who them calmly slotted home for 2-0 on 28mins. Touch and finish.

A few minutes later and excellent quick passes involving Tim, Ben and Sam who clipped it to the far post and somehow the ball was cleared. Rocket took a nasty blow to the head and needed to come off and Double H got one back. An immediate response from Ascot, Ben played to Rob who slipped his marker and hit the inside of the post. Two minutes later and another great cross from Dave S was wonderfully headed home by Ben and it was 3-1 at half time.

Double H dropped off as the Ascot possession began to have an impact on fitness and the game was done. Ascot dropped the level a little however did create handfuls of chances which really should’ve been finished. The game remained comfortable and a good break brought a handball and another penalty for Tim 4-1.

Rob hit the bar with a great free kick, more chances were missed and then a lovely move brought the fifth. Ed played out from the back to Dave P who played a lovely 1-2 with Garyth before finding Tim. Tim saw Rob breaking and played him in and Rob finished comfortably.

Ascot United Vets are proud to support care in the community outreach initiatives.
