This was Raiders first match on their ‘home ground’ at South Ascot and what a fantastic game it turned out to be.
Binfield looked comfortable with the ball from the start, passing with confidence and looking to take an early lead. Raiders settled down quickly and were well organised for the first 20-25 minutes, stopping an attacking Binfield from getting their shots off from the edge of the box.
10 minutes before the break, Raiders broke from the defence and passed through the centre of midfield to put their striker in on goal. Some calm finishing put the Raiders ahead but 5 minutes before the break Binfield struck back to go in at half time 1-1.
After the break Binfield looked well organised and push hard for win. Some great strikes from the Binfield players put them 3-1 up but Raiders didn’t give up and with 10 minutes to go they were awarded a handball. The Raiders striker confidentially slotted home in the bottom left hand corner.
Raiders came again and just before the final whistle there was a couple of great chances that they just couldn’t convert.
A fantastic match to watch, great performances by both teams and as always a pleasure to play against Binfield Lightning.
