ASCOT FACE TOUGH VILLA TEST / LADIES CUP COUNTDOWN BEGINS

#WeAreAscot

Ascot United face their toughest league test of the season this Saturday when they travel to unbeaten league leaders Hanworth Villa (3pm) (Rectory Meadow, Park Road (off Hounslow Road), Hanworth, Middlesex, TW13 6PN). With only two defeats in cup competitions (Loxwood, FA Cup, 1-3 and Wingate & Finchley, Middx Cup, 1-7), the Villains have won ten of their last eleven league games to establish daylight at the top of the table.

Once again, most of their goals have come from prolific striker Sam Merson (11 in 13), although he is well supported by Meshach Williams (7 in 14).

The Yellamen are aiming to end a four game winless streak, and also know that following Saturday’s match they will be back in cup action on the following two Tuesdays – firstly entertaining Newport Pagnell on Tuesday 16th (county cup) before travelling to AFC Croydon on Tuesday 23rd (league cup).

Saturday’s full league program is below, with Egham (7th) v Abbey Rangers (3rd) and Edgware (6th) v Southall (2nd) being the other ties to look out for at the top

Separately, build-up to Sundays’ historic Women’s FA Cup First Round clash between Ascot United Ladies and third-tier Chichester and Selsey Ladies is underway. More on that tomorrow, together with an online matchday programme packed with facts, stats and photos!
