READING EXPOSE RAIDERS DEFENSIVE FRAILTIES IN 12 GOAL THRILLER!

Raiders entertained Reading City FC for their third encounter this season at a boggy South Ascot and slumped to yet another defeat, in what is turning into a poor second half of the season.
Raiders got off to the best possible start with a goal inside the first two minutes from Cory after good work down the left by Freddie and Euan. Jimbo and Kyran had efforts saved by the keeper. Reading then began to get in the game and looked dangerous, pacey on the wing and tenacious in the tackle in midfield. Consequently, it was no surprise on 10 mins when they equalised, their player sidestepping the defender and slotting a low shot past Musty at his near post. For their part Raiders still posed a threat and on 17 mins Kyran scored one of his trademark goals from a free kick. Raiders were conceding too many unnecessary free kicks and from one of them Reading had the ball in the net but the striker had gone a fraction early and was flagged offside. Then on 34 mins, from another free kick after a James B tackle, Raiders were hit with a double whammy, the kick left Musty flat footed and James B was booked! 2-2 where the score remained at the half time whistle.

The second half was like a boxing match with each team trading goal for goal! On 41 mins Reading took the lead for the first time from a penalty after a trip by Kyran. Two mins later Morgan equalised when his long-range shot was parried into his own net by the Reading keeper. Raiders then took the lead on 46 mins from a left foot shot by Euan but Reading equalised 6 mins later from a header. Raiders took the lead again from a Euan right foot shot from the right-hand side of the area on 62 mins only for Reading to equalise 5 mins later with a near post header from a corner. Reading were now in the ascendancy and only a great one on one save from Musty prevented them taking the lead again! With 10 mins left it began to look ominous for Raiders, Reading pressed forward at every opportunity and added two more goals without reply as the Raiders defence caved in under the pressure. Final score 7-5 to Reading who offensively were far the better team, creative and determined in the tackle.
Our next game is against league leaders Whitegrove & Wargrave, who we have already beaten this season. A much better performance will be required to get a result!
